COMPOUNDS ENGINEERED TO ACHIEVE SPECIFIC ELECTRICAL PROPERTIES
Americhem is unbiased in its selection of conductive additives, fillers, and fibers to produce desired levels of conductivity. Commonly used technologies include carbon black, carbon nanotubes, inherently dissipative polymers, carbon fibers, stainless steel fibers and nickel coated graphite fibers. Formulation constituents are carefully selected to balance conductivity level, mechanical performance, and economic needs of each application.
Consistent dispersion and distribution in the resin matrix is achieved via the compounding process, resulting in a final compound with uniform and permanent levels of conductivity. Lot to lot consistency is ensured by using industry standard equipment and test methods.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ANTISTATIC, STATIC DISSIPATIVE, CONDUCTIVE, and EMI/RFI SHIELDING COMPOUNDS
Unmodified thermoplastic resins are inherently insulative with surface resistivity generally > 1012 ohms/sq. Americhem produces a wide range of InElec® compounds with different levels of conductivity to meet specific performance needs:
Antistatic (1010 – 1012):
Prevents accumulation of static charge.
Static Dissipative (106-1012):
Controls the release of static charge through more rapid dissipation or decay than antistatic compounds, usually within milliseconds.
Conductive (101-106):
Bleeds off strong static charges in nanoseconds, providing a pathway to ground by letting charge flow.
EMI/RFI Shielding (101-104):
Prevents cross-talk between devices and signal interference from outside sources. Performance measured in db of shielding or blocking of EMI/RFI frequencies.

OTHER ADVANTAGES OF InElec® CONDUCTIVE COMPOUNDS
Unlike coatings, InElec® compounds are uniformly conductive throughout, eliminating a costly secondary process and reducing the risk of compromised performance from scratching, peeling, or flaking. Compared to machined metal, InElec® compounds provide design freedom and reduced weight, allowing for cutting edge designs and cost saving opportunities. Additionally, compounds can be tailored to meet the requirements of your specific injection molding or extrusion processes to ensure optimum manufacturability. No matter your needs, AEC has you covered.
TOTAL PRODUCT CUSTOMIZATION TO MEET UNIQUE REQUIREMENTS
Being part of Americhem’s engineered compound product lines, every InElec® formulation is customized to meet the unique needs of your product application. A wide range of base resins including ABS, PE, PP, POM, POK, PA, PC, PC/ABS, PBT, PPS, PSU, PPSU, PES, PEI, PEEK, TPU, PVDF, and ETFE can be used depending on requirements such as chemical resistance, stiffness, heat deflection, and dimensional stability. Compounds can be further tailored with wear and friction additives, flame retardants, heat stabilizers, impact modifiers, and structural reinforcements like glass fibers. With our broad range of pre-colored and custom-colored solutions, we can create a perfect color match that’s uniform and repeatable to ensure consistent branding and quality.
POISED TO KEEP PACE WITH GROWING MARKET DEMAND
With the intensive use of electronics and trend toward miniaturization and electrification, the demand for antistatic, conductive, and shielding compounds has never been greater. For the healthcare and medical device industry, Americhem offers a range of biocompatible medical compounds and materials, including ABS, PC, PBT, PPA, PEI, Nylon and PEEK.
Americhem also designs compounds for mass-market products such as printers, computers, business machines, portable electronic devices, appliances, exercise equipment, automotive electronics and plastic products that require antimicrobial protection.
Manufacturers of products used in combustible or hazardous environments like batteries, automotive fuel lines, power generation components, mining equipment, industrial pumps, and chemical processing products rely on InElec® to reduce risks and improve durability. AEC has decades of experience in designing conductive compounds for demanding applications and we are always open to expanding our product portfolio and eager to formulate solutions to meet customer needs.
